At a meeting of Fernham villagers on 17 May 2012, it was agreed that Project Inspire and the Fernham Events Committee should join forces under one charity, which would be renamed as the Fernham Village Trust. As the original project to create a village hall in a rebuilt St. John’s Church was almost complete, the meeting felt that this new name was more suited to the new organisation.
The Fernham Village Trust is officially registered at Companies House and with the Charity Commission. All statutory reports and returns are recorded with these organisations. The Trust runs the village hall and organises two major village events and several smaller activities for the village. These range from the Village Fete and Village Fireworks through to the Pensioners Christmas Lunch, Christmas Bazaar, Burns Nights. FVT also supports events organised by villagers.
FVT Trustees are elected for a three-year term. (Currently, these are: Dr Bill Egginton, Neil Sutherland, and Mike Winter)
The FVT Volunteers’ management team are elected every year at the Trust’s Annual General Meeting, and members will serve for a year and can offer themselves for re-election. There is no hierarchy, each volunteer takes it in turn to Chair and act as Secretary for our quarterly meetings.
